We made it!

8 days, 14 states and 6333 kms and we are in New Jersey!  It was an intense week with long days in the Jeep.  It was amazing though, seeing the wet green of the NorthWest give way to the dry desert of North East Oregon and Idaho, the craggy cliffs of Utah, the Joshua trees rising out of the mist in Arizona and the Grand Canyon. The red dust of New Mexico, the big sky of Texas, the flat of Oklahoma, the strangeness of Arkansas, rolling hills of Tennessee, snowy hills of Virginia and the condensed drive through Maryland, DC and Delaware.

It would have been great to have more time in some places like the Grand Canyon and with our cousins in Nashville, but our delayed start forced us to keep moving.  The girls were pretty great the whole way along. We all got a bit restless in the late afternoons, but we mostly stayed at hotels with pools or hot tubs so that was a good way to relax after a day of driving.

Our home is a rambling stone manse of the local Presbyterian church.  We live mainly on the second floor with 2 bathrooms and 4 bedrooms; the biggest room is our living room.  We share the main floor with the church’s youth group, so we have access to the kitchen and a front parlor which is our dining room. The third floor is a guest room, my office and a storage room as well as a bathroom.  It is a large, squeaky, drafty house and we love it.

Sounds like a great old house.

Sounds like it has lots of room for the 4 of you! Might even have some room for guests! 🙂 Hopefully it will soon feel like home for you and Jeff and the girls! Don’t even see any snow!
