The perks of being a ‘professional’ volunteer.

IMG_1181.JPGOne of the ongoing jokes around here is Jeff’s status. He and the girls are my dependents on my work visa. But since our children do not need a full time stay at home dad, Jeff volunteers full time at the boat shop. His ‘boss’ coined the phrase professional volunteer because Jeff get all the perks of being staff without having to do some of the other stuff that comes with a paid position.

One such perk is Family week. And since Jeff’s parents have become snowbirds, he decided to pull the girls out of school and take a little road-trip down to see them in Florida. So far I’ve gotten texts about the warmth, shell collecting and water time. Not to mention being loved well by grandparents.

As I sit here in NJ preparing for yet another storm, I am mostly happy for them…
