The long winter.

If you look closely, you can see some sickly looking garlic shoots poking out of the dirt. They were planted in the fall, but due to a hotter than normal fall, they grew 3 inches. Then the never ending winter hit. We had buried the garlic under a layer of leaves to try and protect them…the result are soaking wet, weak shoots.

I uncovered them today, our first warm day in forever, in the hopes that some heat and sun will revive them.

There are many of us here who are feeling like those shoots…tired, weak and oh so grateful for a day of sun and warmth.

I am grateful for a day that I could get my hands dirty and wear a Tshirt. Time to shake off our winter funk and look for signs of new growth.
